Apple Pie

- 6 Granny Smith apples peeled, cored and sliced or cubed
- 1 cup sugar
- ¼ cup flour
- 2 tbls cinnamon
- ½ teas ginger
- ¼ teas nutmeg
- 4-6 tbls butter
- 1 cup cold shortening or butter or both
- ⅓ cup ice cold water
- 1 teas vinegar or vodka
- 1 teas salt
- 2 ½ cups flour
Put the apple slices in a large bowl. Combine the dry ingredients and sprinkle over the apples. Pour the spiced apple mixture into the pie crust and dot with butter. Cover with a top pie crust, cut a design or make slits to let steam escape. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Bake 50-60 minutes at 400°.
